Love Heals uses a team approach to provide both the basic facts on HIV/AIDS and the unique perspective of someone living with HIV. Our speakers use their own stories to reinforce the message that young people must educate and protect themselves. Book a Speakers Bureau presentation by contacting Vicky Moy, Program Assistant, at 212/529-7935 or
vicky@loveheals.org.
Love Heals’ Speakers Bureau presentations and workshops last from 45 to 180 minutes. Presentations are generally followed by a discussion period during which participants are encouraged to ask any and all questions and are assured that they will receive honest, complete answers. They’re conducted in a wide variety of settings—from secondary schools to universities and church groups to prisons. Groups range from 8 to 800 people.
Our speakers bureau works in partnership with the New York City Department of Education to provide lessons towards fulfilling the HIV/AIDS education mandate (Read the
mandate). We also partner with peer education programs and programs serving newly diagnosed individuals.
Over the past fifteen years, Love Heals’ Speakers Bureau has reached more than 315,000 young people throughout the New York City metropolitan area—including 44,000 last year alone.
The Love Heals Speakers Bureau is comprised of an extraordinarily diverse roster of trained health educators and people living with HIV. You’ll find a short blurb about each one below, as well as a list of schools and organizations we've reached (list).
